Stamford Italian Soccer League

History

One of the longest-running Italian-American athletic organizations in the United States.

Some traditions are built one season at a time. Stamford's has been building for more than thirty years.

The Stamford Italian Soccer League grew out of the city's Italian-American community and its love of calcio, and it has endured across three decades and 31 annual seasons, long enough to become one of the longest-running Italian-American athletic organizations in the country. Its centerpiece is the annual Columbus Day Tournament, which celebrated its 30th anniversary with a Finals Celebration at Westhill High School, powered by The Papallo Family Fund.

A fuller, dated history of the league, its founders, its seasons, and its champions, is being assembled with league leadership and will be published here.

If you have league photographs, programs, or memories from past decades, we would genuinely love to see them. Get in touch.
